 Outdoor

Stairlifts is known variously as stair lifts, stair-lifts, chair lifts, stairgliders, stair gliders and by other names.
ACORN Stair Lifts power supply
ACORN Stairlifts are powered by direct current (DC), supplied by rechargeable batteries, which deliver a smooth, ultra-quiet and safe ride quality. The batteries are maintenance free and charged by a safe 15 volts AC, which is stepped-down from the domestic mains supply by the transformer.
• The Stairlift remains operative, even if the mains supply is interrupted
• There is no mains voltage to any of the operating parts of the Stairlift
• There are no troublesome trailing mains cables, as with all AC powered lifts
• Allows rapid and simple installation, without mess or disruption
• Delivers smooth and whisper-quiet operational characteristics
• 'Soft Start & Stop' means that there is no jolting or lurching as the lift starts or finishes its journey. This adds to the feeling of safety and stability.

ACORN Stair Lifts Ride Quality
The peerless ride quality is attributed to our unique rail profile and chassis roller system, in conjunction with the DC Power and rack and pinion drive systems. Typically, other Stairlifts feature four, or sometimes six chassis rollers and a box section rail. The ACORN Superglide Stairlift has eight rollers, giving a surface contact area at least four times greater than competitor products, which, coupled with our unique double tube rail profile, gives the smoothest, quietest and most luxurious ride quality currently available, and a superb feeling of safety and stability when using the Stairlift.

ACORN Stair Lifts Safety Features
ACORN Stairlifts have an impressive array of safety features built in as standard. These include:
Electronic and mechanical braking systems
The stairlift is fitted as standard with these essential safety systems to eliminate any possibility of an uncontrolled descent of the stairlift.

Limit sensors
At the end of either an ascent or descent the stairlift will come to a 'soft stop' due to the limit sensors, these ensure that the stairlift always stops in the correct position

Swivel seat with locking catch
The stairlift seat swivels, and locks in postion, making mounting and dismounting from the stairlift easy and safe. The stairlift will not operate unless the seat is in the correct riding position.

Choice of Control
ACORN Stair Lifts are controlled by, either the mechanical 'joystick' fitted to the seat arm, or by way of the infra red remote control handset, two of which are supplied. The mechanical controls over-ride the remote controls. The remote controls are ideal when there are 2 users in the house so that the lift can be 'sent' or 'called' up - and downstairs. The wireless design means that there is no unsightly wall mounted wiring or control stations.

Pressure sensitive safety surfaces
There are 5 surfaces / edges that stop the stairlift in event ofa collision with any obstruction on the stairway. These are located around the footrest, and on the top and bottom of the carriage.

Digital status display
Mounted on the carriage of the stairlift is a digital display, which shows clearly when the lift is in the normal operating position, and also provide invaluable diagnostic information in the unlikely event of a fault with your stairlift.

Are you Sure You Need a Curved Rail Stair Lift?
On the face of it, curved rail stair lifts provide an appropriate solution for staircases that are anything but a straight run. However, you should consider all options when choosing a stair lift solution for your home.

Curved Stair Lifts are very complex pieces of equipment. Consequently, they are hugely expensive when compared to straight stair lifts and there are other aspects of these lifts that you should consider carefully before making your decision.

Curved Stair Lifts are custom-built for your particular staircase, it cannot be relocated and therefore has no value if and when you no longer need it.

Due to their mechanical complexity, curved rail units are not as reliable as straight stair lifts. Whether we like it or not, the reality is that curved rail lifts are often troublesome in their operation.

Curved rail lifts require a highly detailed on-site survey, prior to order and can take up to 3 months to be built and delivered. It is neither practical nor advisable to self-install this type of stair lift.

If your staircase has a sub-landing (a flat platform) where it turns, you should consider the option of installing two straight stair lifts, as an alternative to one curved unit. This assumes that the user is capable of transferring from one stair lift to the other on the flat landing, of course. We accept that this is not always possible, but are always on hand to offer advice and guidance.

A ‘double installation’ of two straight stair lifts from ACORN will provide the following benefits to you.

An average cost saving of $5000.00
A neater, more reliable stair lift system
A stair lift system that is easy to remove or re-locate.
Two stair lifts that each have a significant re-sale value
Delivery within five working days
Self-installation is easy and cost effective

The gearbox and main chassis on the ACORN stair lift
are manufactured from die-cast aluminum.
